"Pie- Pie" Baking Adventure

Dinner time is always an adventure around the Hansen house. We do our best to eat a variety of foods at a budget friendly price. I'll have to admit, it is a hobby of mine to find different inventive meals that use our basic pantry staples that the whole family will eat. We have found a new favorite in semi home made pot pie! (miranda is convinced it is pronounced "Pie- Pie") It's beyond simple and the kids love to help make it.

Easy Hansen Semi Home Made Pot Pie:

Bisquick mix made to the biscuit directions (Single Family Batch)
Precooked: leftover chicken, turkey, ham - cubed
Frozen, Canned or Fresh Veggies (Corn, Carrots, Peas, Green beans etc)
1 family sz can of cream of chicken
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Follow Bisquick directions for biscuits
Separate dough into 2 parts
Roll Base Crust and place in Pie tin
Mix Cream of chicken, veggies, and meat
Pour into pan
Roll Crust for top- place on top. Crease edges and add vents to the top
Place on cookie sheet on middle rack of oven for 15- 20 mins.
Enjoy.

Tah Dah..... We are very pleased with ourselves!

Very serious mixing and pouring....

Alyssa adds the cream of chicken

Celie & the can opener
Believe it or not- she can do this herself... and she insists. Lol.

Doughy Love

Miranda and Jonny roll the dough
Can you identify all the hands in this picture?

I would have the final product here.... but the kids ate it all before I could take a picture. It's that mmmm-good.

Weekend In Yuma

We loaded all the kids in the expedition and headed out to Yuma, Az for Amanda and John's wedding. Of course we couldn't resist stopping by Grandma and Grandpa's in Winterhaven, Ca for a bit of rock throwing, tree climbing, candycane stealing, pie eating and good conversation.

A bit of a Napoleon pose?

I wish Miranda was more expressive

A miracle: They're all smiling .
If I ever get around to it- I think this one would make a great Christmas card.
Cross your fingers... ;)

Halloween 2007

The kids had a blast on Halloween. Jonny was a werewolf with an awesome wig and face painted whiskers. Alyssa was a pop star in leopard and a hot pink wig. Celie was a peppy cheerleader... pigtails and all and Miranda as a Punk Rocker. (She told everyone she was Daddy's worst nightmare.... LOL)

If you are looking for the Jonny pics: I'm sorry. He snuck out the door to go trick or treating with his friends before I could get pictures. (Much to my dismay)

Celie's 1st Day of Kindergarden

Celies first day of school
Celie was so excited to start kindergarden... she has been painfully too young for at least the past 2 years. When the big day came around she was so excited she could hardly finish breakfast. She picked out her very own outfit- a week in advance and was eager to put on her new backpack, full of "big kid goodies".
Here are a few pictures of our big girl.

Dinner with Uncle Bear

Dinner is a very serious affair around here, especially when Uncle Bear is home from college... if you can't tell.

It's the I like Pizza face.

A Day at the Arena

Its a girls day at the Arena. Corinne gave Hope, Miranda and Celie a riding lesson while I tried not to fall off as I learned how to ride bare-back. Not easy, not easy at all.
Hope has great posture. She could be really good if she put some time in.

THis helmet looks like it's going to eat Miranda.

CHeck out Celie's Posture.

Me, not falling off... yet.

Fun in the Sun at Lake Mission Viejo

When Hope came to visit we took a family day to the lake. David had fun horesin' around with the kids. I, in my swimsuit, took refuge behind the camera.

Our typical family photos: Alyssa's left eye, the top of Jonny's head, the back of Hope's head and a blurry David.
